The Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) conducted on sight verification exercise on two key public works contracts in the eastern region. The inspection exercise aimed at establishing whether the public contracts awarded are implemented in accordance with the PPDA law.

“This is part of our oversight and monitoring role as the regulator of Public procurement.The projects under this inspection are mainly two;

1. Rehabilitation of Musita – Lumino and Busia -Majanji Road (104 Km)
2. Rehabilitation of Nakalama – Tirinyi – Mbale Road (93.3 Km)” Mr. Benson Turamye the Ag.Executive Director PPDA explained.

The above projects are high value, with a combined contract value of UGX 342,156,092,468 and  critical for service delivery as they link the country to foreign trade markets and support the socio-economic livelihood of the citizenry Eastern Uganda.

The PPDA team assessed the progress of implementation of the projects following the reinstatement of the contracts and identified lessons, good practices and challenges faced in implementation of the projects that form a basis for procurement policy formulation.
